Subject aims expressed by acquired skills and competences
The subject summarizes basic principles of geophysical methods. The aim is to demonstrate the use of different methods and methodologies for different purposes. Emphasis is placed on the evaluation of the correctness and sufficiency of the chosen methodology, the assessment of the quality and the reliability of the measured data and the knowledge of the interpretation of the measured geophysical data for the intended purpose. Focus topics are selected according to the currently solved issues, such as applications for ecology, archeology, construction, geotechnics or brownfields. The graduate gains the ability to participate in the project preparation of the geophysical works and detailed interpretation of the geophysical knowledge for the given customer (geologist, geo-engineer, constructor, archaeologist ...).
Main topics of lectures: Geological sciences, role and aims of quantitative geodesy and geophysics. Physical fields of the Earth. Geophysical methods in hydrogeology. Geophysical methods in geotechnical and civil engineering. Geophysical methods in ecology and survey of old ecological loads. Geophysics for archaeological survey. Redevelopment site in brownfields.
Graduate will be acquainted with modern methods of geophysical measurement and processing, special emphasis will be placed on interpreting the obtained results for the needs of the customer. The focus of knowledge will be in geoelectrical and seismic methods, less will be defined other methods, e.g. gravitational, thermal or radiometric methods. In addition to knowledge of geophysical measurements, the issue of repeated measurements and monitoring will be mentioned.

Summary
The subject follows basic geophysical knowledge. Graduates will be acquainted with newer instrumentation and techniques of geophysical measurements. By typing examples from individual themes, graduates will get an idea of how to correctly and efficiently draw up a methodology of geophysical measurements and how to correctly design interpretational procedures both from the point of view of evaluation of the measured data and from the point of view of the customer of the thematic task. The themes are based on current most frequently solved assignments (hydrogeology, geotechnics, construction, damaged areas, archeology).
