The aim of the subject Building Envelopes is to gain detailed knowledge about the issue of building envelopes in terms of constructions, materials and building thermal technology. The subject also covers the issue of windows, doors, and tinsmithry structures, which are an integral part of building envelopes.

At least 70% attendance at the exercises. Absence, up to a maximum of 30%, must be excused
and the apology must be accepted by the teacher (the teacher decides to recognize the reason
for the excuse). Tasks assigned on the exercises must be hand in within the dates set by the
teacher.
Requirements for the student in the case of an individual study plan: At least 50% participation in exercises, submission of all required programs, writing of the test.

Building Envelopes
Syllabus of lecture:
1. Thermal technology of building envelopes. Principles for designing the building envelopes in terms of building thermal technology. Requirements of ČSN 73 0540-2 (2011).
2. Building envelopes. Division. Requirements aesthetic, thermal technical, acoustic, lighting technical, aerodynamic, hydrodynamic, fire safety.
3. Building envelopes. Silicate-based cladding.
4. Building envelopes. Metal light cladding.
5. Building envelopes. Light wood-based cladding.
6. Subsequent building insulation. Division of thermal insulation systems. Subsequent building insulation from the outside of the construction. Subsequent building insulation from the inside of the construction.
7. Subsequent building insulation. External thermal insulation composite systems (ETICS). External ventilated thermal insulation systems. Thermal insulating plasters.
8. Subsequent building insulation. Subsequent thermal insulation of ceilings, constructions adjacent to the ground, ground floors and foundations. Realization of subsequent building insulation. Inspection and acceptance of work. The most frequent mistakes. Recovery of costs for subsequent thermal insulation.

1. Design and thermal-technical assessment of three variants of cladding of the given building according to ČSN 73 0540-2 (2011). Variants: heavy cladding, light cladding, light wood-based cladding.
2. Design and assessment of airborne sound insulation of heavy cladding of the given building according to ČSN 73 0532 (2010).
3. Design and thermal-technical assessment of two variants of the ground floor according to ČSN 73 0540-2 (2011).
4. Design and thermal-technical assessment of two variants of the floor over the open space according to ČSN 73 0540-2 (2011).
5. Design and assessment of airborne and impact sound insulation of heavy floating floor according to ČSN 73 0532 (2010).
6. Design and assessment of airborne and impact sound insulation of light floating floor according to ČSN 73 0532 (2010).
7. Design and thermal-technical assessment of two variants of subsequent insulation of the perimeter wall using the external thermal insulation composite system (ETICS) according to ČSN 73 0540-2 (2011).
