Learning objectives:
The course will provide a comprehensive understanding of architectural and technical contexts protection and restoration of historic buildings. Emphasis is placed on analysis of the relationships between architectural, structural and historical and legislative aspects of the conservation and restoration of monuments.

Content focus:
The subject dealing with the protection and restoration of historic buildings is loosely based on the eponymous subject of the master's degree program Architecture and Civil Engineering. With regard to the topic of the dissertation, however, deepens understanding doctoral student so that he could at his studio, and then in the doctoral thesis to take into account the issue of rehabilitation, conversion and renovation of historic buildings. Furthermore, this issue is important in contemporary creation in historic surroundings.
There are also a subject of legislative issues, methodology monument care at home and abroad, contemporary trends in matters of conversion of historic buildings and industrial buildings and complexes listed.

Subject syllabus:
The course dealing with the protection and restoration of historical buildings loosely follows the same subject of the master's degree program Architecture and Civil Engineering. With regard to the topic of the doctoral thesis, however, it further deepens the knowledge of the PhD student so that he can take into account the problems of remediation, conversion and reconstruction of historical buildings during his studies and in his doctoral thesis. Furthermore, this issue is important in contemporary creation in a historical setting.
Furthermore, the subject of study is legislative issues, methodology of monument care in the Czech Republic and abroad, contemporary trends in the issues of conversion of industrial historical buildings and buildings and complexes of listed heritage.
