Subject aims expressed by acquired skills and competences

Course provides students with basic knowledge of the typology of residential buildings in relation to historical and social changes and the history of architecture (flat, house, apartment house, living in a rural, housing types according to special requirements). Practical application of knowledge to practice in the exercises thematically related lectured on theory. Students will acquire knowledge typology of residential buildings in the historical, social and technical contexts, to the extent necessary for further study and follow-up studio for the creation of residential buildings (Studio Work I).

Summary

The doctrine of construction teaches basic conceptual structure of the field of architectural typologies, whose knowledge allows students to process new information (not only in this subject), ranking them in context and practical use in one's work. The lectures introduce students to the basics of architectural design of residential buildings with respect to their cultural and technological importance and influence on the quality of the built environment from the perspective of both individuals and society. Architecture for residential construction is put into the context of historical, typological and operational including the applicable standards and regulations. Lectures are supplemented with excursions to residential buildings of historical and contemporary and external lectures. The lectures followed by practical exercises.

Other requirements

At least 70% attendance at the exercises. Absence, up to a maximum of 30%, must be excused and the apology must be accepted by the teacher (the teacher decides if he accept the reason for the excuse). Tasks assigned on the exercises must be hand in within the dates set by the teacher.

Subject syllabus:

The course will familiarize students with the typology of two basic groups of buildings and constructions of residential and civil buildings. The scope of information will be designed so that students were able to establish him in the creation of Studio I and other Studios. First will always be a clear operational scheme of a certain type of object in the context of urban planning and further details will be given typological requirements for space
