Subject aims expressed by acquired skills and competences

By completing the course the student is familiar with the typology of simpler types of public buildings including basic solutions for public areas. The doctrine of construction teaches basic conceptual structure of the field of architectural typologies, whose knowledge allows students to process new information (not only for this course) and place them in context. Students will acquire basic knowledge typology of civil buildings in the historical, social and technical contexts, to the extent necessary for further study and follow-up studio work (Studio Work II).

Lectures

Summary

The lectures introduce students to the basics of architectural design of typical types of civil buildings with respect to their cultural and technological importance and influence on the quality of the built environment from the perspective of both individuals and society. The architecture of public buildings (public accommodation and catering, trade, primary health care, school buildings, buildings for sport and administration) is put into the context of historical, typological and operational, including the introduction of basic applicable standards and regulations. Lectures are supplemented with excursions to discover the historical and contemporary buildings and outside lectures.

Subject syllabus:

Typology of buildings 2 is mainly concerned with transportation buildings, then buildings of industrial and other production, agricultural buildings and other types of buildings. Road constructions are seen mainly as a necessary part of the urban area without conceptual understanding is not possible to design urban and architectural study. An essential part of architecture is the city's urban infrastructure parts. Industrial buildings and other productions are seen mainly from operational, structural and architectural aspects. Emphasis is placed on understanding and analysis of the production process as a determining parameter of the complex. Furthermore, industrial buildings are seen as part of artificial or natural environment and part of the landscape. All connection and continuity are generally given at the beginning and then demonstrated the specific realizations. Typological requirements for interior industrial complexes, including information systems, are also part of the lectures. Agricultural buildings are presented based on current trends in the industry and the latest developments in the world. Includes lectures but also the history of farm buildings, an information resource for organic farming and agrotourism
