Subject aims expressed by acquired skills and competences

The doctrine of construction teaches basic conceptual structure of the field of architectural typology and fire safety, knowledge of which will enable students to process new information (not only for this course) and place them in context. Knowledge is a prerequisite for creative work in the post-studio work. Students completing the course will be educated in basic typology of civil, industrial and agricultural buildings and structures for transport solutions, including public spaces in the context of the historical and social changes and needs. Continuing series of lectures provides basic information on the requirements for fire safety design of buildings.

Summary

The lectures in the science of structures III students learn the basics of architectural design of individual types of buildings with regard to their cultural and technological importance and influence on the quality of the built environment from the perspective of both individuals and society. Architecture of civil, industrial and agricultural buildings and structures for transport solutions, including public spaces is put into the context of historical, typological and operational including the applicable standards and regulations. Related lectures are devoted to the basic requirements of fire safety design of buildings. Lectures are supplemented with excursions to discover the historical and contemporary buildings and outside lectures.

Students work out answers to questions entered in the lectures and develop independent seminary work to the presented subject matter.
