Subject aims expressed by acquired skills and competences
Architecture of the 20th century, is interpreting in the context of sociology and emphasis is placed on understanding the emergence of new and long-sought functionalist trend that gradually profiled in different directions and in the hands of unique artists.

Lectures
Summary
Students will acquire knowledge of architecture in the context of European and culture and overseas from the beginning of the 20th century to the Second World War. He is well versed in the wider development of modernism and architectural avant-garde and understands them on examples of architecture from the Czech and Czechoslovak backgrounds.

Way of continuous check of knowledge in the course of semester

Students during the semester write 10 tests of general knowledge of the history of the 20th century and 10 tests of getting to know important buildings in the first half of the 20th century. The tests can be replaced in the credit week or in justified cases during the examination period.
