Subject aims expressed by acquired skills and competences

The objective of the course is to provide the students with the knowledge of typology of residential buildings in historical, social and technical context, in the scope necessary for further study and for subsequent architectural design studio of residential buildings (Architectural Design Studio 1). Practical use of the knowledge is practiced in exercises thematically related to the lectured theory.

Summary

The content of lectures is the basic conceptual structure of architectural typology in the area of housing. Students get acquainted with elements of architectural design of residential buildings with regard to their cultural and functional importance and impact on the quality of the built environment from the point of view both the individual and society. The architecture of buildings for housing is presented in historical, typological and operational contexts, including valid standards and regulations. The lectures are followed by practicals.

Continuous questions for individual lectures, tests in exercises.

Students answers to the questions given in lectures and prepare an individual seminar work on the lecture topics. The knowledge is tested in the tests in practicals.

VIEW TO PAST – MIDDLE AGES AND MODERN HISTORY (from the migration of nations to the Baroque palace) 11. CHANGES IN HOUSING IN THE 19TH CENTURY (from classicism to modernity) 12.
