Subject aims expressed by acquired skills and competences

The topic of the semester work will be the creation of working sketches, a scale model and a final poster or portfolio showing the entire course of work, supplemented by visualizations of the subject. The first phase of the task will be to clarify the concept, ie searching for sources, inspiration concept, examples of use, determination of the basic concept. The second phase will be sketching the shape of the architectural element, its proportions, proportions and materials, also supplemented by the first material interpretations. At the same time, the choice of the place where the student wants to place the object should take place, realizing that the choice of place must be justified. During the third phase, it would be appropriate to start with the production of the model - I recommend - in connection with the work in the winter semester, to further develop work with simple geometric shapes, their combination, intersections or folding. It is also possible to work with ready-made techniques, assemblage, collage, etc., ie somewhat non-traditional techniques. In the final phase of the task to design a material solution, including surface treatment and color of the surface, which may (but does not have to) be fundamental and decisive in addition to the shape. Finish the model either in auxiliary material (sculptural clay, plaster, cardboard) or in the final material (wood, plastic, etc.). Perform photo documentation of the model in the appropriate quality with lighting. Along with this, finalize the final poster or portfolio, on which, if possible, sketches, photos of the model and its assembly in the selected space will be placed. For the poster or portfolio, emphasis will be placed on its composition and balance, and last but not least on the professionally executed graphic design of the presentation.

Summary

In its original logic, this course should be a continuation of the course Fundamentals of Sculpture, which is taught in the winter semester. The experience gained in working with spatial composition, the logic of ongoing work, consisting of initial sketching and consultations, developed in the spatial composition of geometric bodies represent a starting point for more demanding work on the MODEL, an artifact moving on the border of sculpture / object / installation / small architecture. It should be MODEL, as the resulting artifact set in its specific task, in its specific location of the urban or rural landscape, specified by its material, structure, color. There are many design options, such as the Passion of the Christ, a milestone, a tombstone, etc.

Co-requisities

Subject has no co-requisities.

Subject syllabus:

1. The first part of the task: execution of sketches, consultations, search for sources and starting points, development of the assigned topic, 2. The second part of the task: starting work on smaller models in auxiliary or final material, final definition of the assigned task, selection of the final variant, definition of location, topography, urban planning of location 3. The third part of the task: work on the final model in the selected material, implementation of quality photo documentation of models, visualization of models incl. their location, or location mockup production 4. The fourth part of the task: final presentation and defense of the assignment, creation of a portfolio or poster with a text part, photo documentation, sketches, visualizations - emphasis on the quality of graphic design of the work. All these procedures and steps will be assessed in the student's classification, as well as the progress of work and approach to the assigned topic, as well as a professional approach to completing models and portfolios.
