Subject aims expressed by acquired skills and competences

The aim of the course is to acquaint students of Structural engineering with basic principles of architectural design (working, structure and architectural language) and prepare them for future cooperation with architects in designing and realization of buildings as well as their own design practice.

Summary

Students will analyze existing (well-designed) buildings for housing. They will learn the basics of typological and compositional principles of architectural design.

1. Introduction, fundamentals of ergonomics, 2. Presentation of selected single-storey, detached house 3. Bedroom or children's room in selected family house, floor plan and section 4. Presentation of selected hall apartment 5. Living room in selected apartment, floor plan and section, dimensioned 6. Presentation of selected maisonette apartment 7. Kitchen or kitchenette room in the selected apartment, floor plan and section, dimensioned 8. Presentation of selected row house 9. Bathroom and toilet in selected row family house, floor plan and section, dimensioned 10. Assessment of the given dwelling for sunshine according to ČSN 73 4301 11. Presentation of the selected house 12. Calculation of the staircase in the selected house 13. Photodocumentation of a physical model of any room 1:20 in selected family or apartment house 14.
