Subject aims expressed by acquired skills and competences
To describe the different segments of transportation infrastructure corresponding to the respective transport modes. The acquired knowledge apply in the process of planning a particular mode of transport and the adequate transportation rout. Formulate and explain the relationship between means of transport and transportation infrastructure.

Summary
The course introduces students to the elements of the transport infrastructure. Attention is focused mainly to roads (motorways, roads, municipal roads), tracks (railways, metro, tramways) and airport structures.

Other requirements
Participation in lessons of at least 70%, absence must be excused and the excuse must be accepted by the teacher. Submission of all individual tasks assigned to the independent work of the student by the deadline and in the prescribed form.

Subject syllabus:
1. Introduction, basic legislation.
2. Roads - category, directional and elevation solutions, transverse arrangement, drainage.
3. Pavement and its construction, ground body of the road, objects in the route.
4. Municipal roads for motor transport, parking and garages, pedestrian and cyclist routes, crossing of different types of transport, transportation without barriers.
5. Crossroads.
6. Division of tracks. Railway structures, railways, modernization of the railway network.
7. Constructional and geometrical track layout, spatial layout of the track. Railway superstructure (track construction, crossings, ...).
8. Railway substructure (design principles, drainage ...).
9. Railways stations (purpose, division, equipment, ...), sorting railway station (principles, technical and construction equipment, KOMPAS automation), tracks of industrial plants (purpose, location, types, equipment, ...).
10. Rail transport in cities, route design, building elements.
11. Definition of airport and airport areas, division of airports into species, description of individual types of airports, breakdown by classes and categories.
12. Factors influencing airport design - geomorphological shape of the terrain, meteorological conditions, physical properties of the terrain.
13. Take-off and landing runways - determination of direction and length, speeds, dimensioning of runway pavements, surface quality.
14. Technical characteristics airports. Objects of the airport facility. Heliports.
