Subject aims expressed by acquired skills and competences

Purpose of this subject is to spread knowledge about designing of roads construction section, qualitative requirements of structural materials and modern technology that are used in roadworks.

Summary

Subject engaged in technology roads and motorways. Whitin lectures students are acquaint with materials that are used in roadworks, their characteristics, qualitative requirements and basic testing.

At least 70% attendance at the exercises. Absence, up to a maximum of 30%, must be excused and the apology must be accepted by the teacher (the teacher decides to recognize the reason for the excuse). Tasks assigned on the exercises must be hand in within the dates set by the teacher.

Subject syllabus:

Lectures: • Construction of earth, preparation and earthworks, excavations. Embankment compaction, consolidation and compaction control of embankments. Geological survey and its importance in the construction of earth road. • Types and road construction. The classification, functions and characteristics of roads. Materials for road construction. • Road aggregate, bituminous and hydraulic binders. • Design of structural layers of roads. Design and characteristics of the traffic load. Design of flexible pavement. Calculation of stress and strain from the burden and assessment of non-rigid pavement design. • Design of rigid pavements. Calculation of load voltage and temperature in the cement concrete assessment of the draft board and rigid pavements. • Basement and base pavement. Water temperature regime in the soil, protection, treatment and soil remediation. Unbound and bound base layers of pavement. The design and strength of base layers. The technology works unbound and stabilized base layers. • Cleaning of roads. Distribution and types, asphalt, cement concrete, paved, non-traditional and special covers. Asphalt pavement, their classification and use in road construction. Design and production of asphalt mixtures, technical requirements and physical and mechanical properties. Transportation, laying, compaction and finishing layer of asphalt mixtures. • Concrete pavements of roads, types and use in road construction. Design, production and technical requirements for the CB mixture. Physico-mechanical properties and test methods for the CB mixtures. Transportation, laying, compaction and finishing of the CB mixtures. • Paved road finishes. Distribution and use of pavement in road construction. The proposal covers the floor and the technical requirements for them. Laying, compaction and finishing tiles. • Inspection and test methods for evaluating the quality of construction and road layers. Technical quality conditions of the various technologies in the construction of road and highway construction. • Evaluation of road and highway roads in terms of operational capability and performance. Surface characteristics of roadways and criteria in terms of safety. Bearing capacity of roads, control and relevance to life. • Maintenance and repair of roads. Violations, failures and breakdown maintenance technology, repair and strengthening of roads. Systems design and optimization of maintenance and repair of roads. Winter service on roads and highways. • Using of computer technology in the construction, maintenance and operation of roads and motorways. • Excursion to the specialized centers. The exercises are aimed at performing exhaustive testing laboratory in the road, asphalt mixture design and design track non-rigid and rigid pavements. Furthermore, in the exercise, students design zracovávají repair and maintenance of selected roads I and II. class in the Region.
