Subject aims expressed by acquired skills and competences
Ability to determine degree of statical indeterminancy of structure. Ability to use virtual works method to compute deformations of structures. Ability to work with force method to solve statically indeterminate beams and frames. Ability to efficiently work with three-moments method to solve multi-span continuous beam. Ability to solve structures with force and deformation types of load.

At least 70% attendance at the exercises. Absence, up to a maximum of 30%, must be excused and the apology must be accepted by the teacher (the teacher decides to recognize the reason for the excuse).
Tasks assigned on the exercises must be hand in within the dates set by the teacher.

1. Introduction. Virtual work. Principle of virtual works.
2. Computation of frame deflections. Unit force method.
3. Statically indeterminate structures.
4. Force method. Analysis of statically indeterminate frames.
5. Direct displacement loads and temperature loads on statically indeterminate frames.
6. Continuous beam. Three-moments method.
7. Direct displacement loads and temperature loads on continuous beams.
8. Moving loads.
9. Analysis of open frames.
10. Analysis of frames with closed parts.
11. Statically indeterminate arcs.
12. Direct displacement loads and temperature loads on arcs and frames.
13. Deformations of statically indeterminate frames and arcs. Reduction theorem.
14. Analysis of grids.
