Subject aims expressed by acquired skills and competences

The main aims: • Enhancement of ability to create numerical models in software like the SCIA Engineer or the ANSYS • Approaches to create of numerical models based on data obtained from technical standards. • Application of energy principles in mechanics to real building structures. • Ability to prepare a work plan for assessment of non-standard structure. • Enhancement in standards-bases assessment of special problems.

Summary

Students will obtain knowledge necessary to be able to do analysis of real civil engineering projects. They will be able to extend their knowledge in the area of energy principles and numerical modelling. The main prerequisites are the understanding of principles of Eurocodes-based assessment of building structures knowledge of basic operations in the ANSYS and the SCIA Engineer.
