Subject aims expressed by acquired skills and competences

Understanding of advanced methods in structural dynamics.

Teaching methods

Individual consultations

Students will be familiar with advanced analytical and numerical methods of dynamics of building structures in the complex domain. Advanced eamples of multi-degree systems with numerical methods and computer mechanics will be solved. The subject will include the analysis of continuous systems, introduction to experimental diagnostic methods and solution of basic stability tasks using dynamics methods.

Compulsory literature:

1. Clough, R.W. and Penzien, J. (1993) Dynamics of structures. McGraw-Hill. 2. Zienkiewicz, O. C., Taylor, R. L., Zhu: The Finite Element Method: Its Basics and Fundamentals, Butterworth-Heinemann, Burlinghton, 2005

Recommended literature:

Mario Paz. Structural Dynamics, Theory and Computation, 1993, Springer

Way of continuous check of knowledge in the course of semester

Oral exam in the form of defence of individual work.

Další požadavky na studenta

The student fully understands basic concepts of dynamics and dynamics of building structures. Can compile equation I for more advanced tasks. Solves the equations for systems with multiple degrees of freedom. He can apply numerical methods. He is able to design a numerical calculation in FEM and a simple experimental procedure for diagnostics of dynamic properties od structures.
