Subject aims expressed by acquired skills and competences

The aim of the subject Modeling of building physical phenomena in buildings is to deepen and expand knowledge and skills in the field of simulation modeling and evaluation of details of building structures and entire buildings from the point of view of selected areas of building physics - building thermal engineering of buildings and energy performance of buildings, building acoustics or building lighting technology. Depending on the focus of their dissertation, students will devote themselves in detail to the given professional area, expand their practical skills when working with professional calculation programs and methods used for: 2D and 3D simulation calculations of stationary and non-stationary conduction of heat and moisture in building structures (ANSYS, WUFI software ), solutions for energetic dynamic simulations of buildings (DesignBuilder software), calculation of sound insulation of walls, floors, roofs, ceilings and windows and overall design of space acoustics (INSUL software), simulation calculations of daylighting and sun exposure of interior rooms, buildings and outdoor areas (BuildingDesign software , DesignBuilder, Light+).

Summary

The subject deepens the knowledge and skills of students in the areas of modeling of structural physical phenomena in buildings: 1. Heat and humidity propagation – calculation and modeling of thermal and humidity conditions in building structures and the internal environment of entire buildings, modeling of 1D, 2D, 3D heat flows for stationary and non-stationary heat conduction in the details of building structures, propagation and transport of water vapor through building structures, air flow. Energy dynamic simulation of buildings. 2. Building acoustics – analysis of air and footfall soundproofing of building structures, noise propagation in outdoor and indoor environments, room acoustics. 3. Lighting technology – analysis of daylight and direct sunlight in rooms, buildings and outdoor areas, calculation of daylight of light tubes, calculations of glare from shiny surfaces of aperture fillings and photovoltaic panels.
