Subject aims expressed by acquired skills and competences
To define the basic laws and rules of the force operating, the equivalent force, the equilibrium of forces, the free body diagram.
To explain the basic principles of the force operating and the free body diagram constructing.
To apply these tools for the solution of the practical technical problems.
To analyze the mechanical structure behavior from the force transmision point of view.
To categorize the force systems, the body systems from the motion and force transmision point of view.
To predict the mechanical system behavior depending on its structure.

Summary
General principles, fundamental quantities of mechanics. Forces and their
characteristics, Moments, Force systems – 2D, 3D, equilibration, congruence.
Centre of mass, centre of gravity – lines, areas, volumes. Equilibrium of rigid
body, the main form of links – in area and space. System of volumes. Principle
of free body diagrams. Internal forces in structural members. Trusses –
methods of solution. Friction, characteristic of coulomb friction, analysis of
systems involving friction. Stability- the main definition. The basic form of
analytical statics.

Subject syllabus:
1. The basic terms of static, the force, the force operations.
2. The force system, its classification. The force system with common and general point of application, plane (2D) and space (3D).
3. The equivalent substitution of the force system - the resulting force. The force and moment effect.
4. The force system equilibrium, the equations of equilibrium, force and moment equations.
5. The centre of gravity of the mass objects - lines, areas and bodies.
6. The force acting on the bodies, the body support (constraint) in joints. the types of planar (2D) and space (3D) joints.
7. The free body diagram constructing - one of the basic approaches in mechanics. The reaction solution in supports.
8. The beam, the beam loading, the reaction solution. The internal forces of the beam.
9. The planar frame structures, loading, reaction solution, internal forces.
10. The body system. The body link by constraints. The loading, the reaction solution, the constraint forces solution.
11. The bar as the specific type of body. The joints, loading, the axial force.
12. The bar system, the axial forces solution. The nodal joint method, the cutting method.
13. The passive resistance against motion.
14. The practical applications.
