Summary
Learning outcomes of the course unit The subject is focused on the color phenomenon in the field of design - especially on the process of design and subsequent implementation in the areas of graphic design, product design and printing. At practical exercises, students will acquire knowledge of color theory.

Way of continuous check of knowledge in the course of semester
On the basis of semestral works created in the studio, students get a credit, which is a prerequisite for passing the oral exam.

Subject syllabus:
1. Definition of colors. Color defining systems in various fields of design creation (product design, graphic design, architecture).
2. Problems of printing inks used for various printing methods.
3. Relationship between color and space. Effect of color on space perception.
4. Camouflage.
5. Color in digital environment. Color issues in digital technology.
6. Color measurement.
7. Psychological effect of colors. Influence of colors on human psyche, color tests.
Syllabus of practical exercises:
8–9. Color mixing, basic color palette. Specific properties of individual pigments.
10–11. Color composition, color contrast, saturation, coplementary contrast.
12. Color accent
13. Light, shadow, color
14. Monochrome painting
