Subject aims expressed by acquired skills and competences

The aim of this course is to acquaint students with the basics of hydraulics. Students will be able to solve simple flow in hydraulic lines, including the classification of time-dependent flow and its application in fire issues. Based on the theory of pumps will be able to design a hydraulic system including the outlet device.

Summary

The course covers the following areas: -basics of hydraulics -hydraulic lines in the steady and unsteady state (shock vawes) -feeding equipment (mainly pumps), specific energy of pumps, Order of pumps discharge device, the theory of water jet, sprinklers -solution of a pipe system with discharge devices

Subject syllabus:

1. Ideal and perfect fluid, state properties, physical properties of fluids, laminar and turbulent flow 2. Continuity equation, Bernoulli's equation for real fluid, pressure measurement 3. Measurement of local and average speed and flow rate (cross measuring instruments) 4. Hydraulic calculation of pipe, friction losses in pipes, local resistance (losses) 5. Simple pipe with the tank, pressure line, pipeline network 6th Solving of simple pipe, complex pipe system, serial, parallel and serial pipe system with consumption, calculation of complex network 7. Unsteady flow of incompressible and compressible fluid 8. Pumps, hydrostatic and hydrodynamic pumps, basic parameters 9. Working equation of centrifugal pump, efficiency, controls of flow rate and cavitation 10. Cooperation of pumps, testing, experimental determination of the characteristics of pumps 11. Equipment for fire, fighting fluid discharge from the hole, a compact fluid stream 12. Shattered stream of liquid, water fog 13. SHZ, composition 14. Design methods of distribution pipes for fire water
