Subject aims expressed by acquired skills and competences

Students will learn about types of friction, they can characterize dry, limiting, fluid and mixed friction. They can define sliding pairs and their behavior in different types of friction. Students will understand the nature of the lubrication and lubrication function. They will familiarize themselves with the types and properties of lubricants. Particular attention is paid to rheological properties of lubricants. They know the different types of lubrication and types of lubrication devices and lubrication systems and learn how to select the right type of lubrication device for a specific case.

Summary

Students will learn about friction in industrial practice and the use of lubricants. It is based on sliding and rolling friction in dry friction, mixed and fluid friction. Above all, the properties of liquid lubricants, both Newtonian and Non-Newtonian, are defined and the student is acquainted with the determination of their properties. In addition, sliding pairs and their behavior are defined in different friction types, the student is acquainted with the Stribeck diagram. Possible types of lubrication are listed - individual, circular, central. Finally, the methods for detecting the degradation of lubricants and methods of their variation or regeneration are presented.

Way of continuous check of knowledge in the course of semester

Během semestru budou vypracovány dva projekty (programy), do kterých vstupují jak teoretické poznatky a výpočty, tak data zjištěná při měření. Za projekty je možno získat 20, resp. 15 bodů.
