Subject aims expressed by acquired skills and competences

Students will know the basics of design theory and methodology. They will know the methodological procedure(s) used in solving of the constructional (technical) task. They will be able to analyze the design problem, methodically determine the requirements for the technical system, divide the solution into partial tasks, build a functional and structural structure of the technical system, including selecting a real variant of the solution.

Summary

The content of the subject is the basics of the theory and methodology of design, methods used in solving of the design (technical) task, ways of organizing the work of the designer, including teamwork within the solution of the technical design problem, methods of rationalizing the work of designer, the essence of the transformation and technical process, origin and properties of technical systems (technical objects), model and structure of the design process, technology design principles and means of computer support for construction work.

Way of continuous check of knowledge in the course of semester

Continuous control of the specified program topic processing. Submission and defense of given program. Continuous control of knowledge by individually assigned partial tasks and control questions. Knowledge is verified by an oral exam.

Subject syllabus:

1. Design - history, development, purpose and goals 2. The activity of a designer - basic contradiction of technical creative work, work with information, methods of rationalizing the work of a designer, creative thinking. 3. The activity of a designer - an overview of current practices in Design methodology, teamwork, decision-making process. 4. Transformation process – basic principle, terminology, the model of the transformation process. 5. Technical processes - basic principle, development, tendencies, technologies, operators, operands and general model of the technical process. 6. Technical systems - technical objects, life cycle, properties, phases of origin and existence, sorting - the origin of spiral of a technical system. 7. Construction process - basic knowledge, a model of the construction process, its structure and basic knowledge to methodical design. 8. The general model of the technical system design process. Construction tactics - methods, principles. 9. Construction stages of the technical system and their documentation during the construction process. 10. Technological design, computer support of construction work.
