Subject aims expressed by acquired skills and competences

The aim of study of the subject is to increase student´s knowledge about the use of plastics in general mechanical engineering as well as in design (construction) of cars. Students will learn about: • problems of designing a plastic products (design optimization from the view of production and assembly) • selected properties of plastic materials in terms of design, • temperature, strength and tolerance analysis, simulations and testing, • early planning tools of quality of plastic products • industrial design and ergonomics. On examples of selected products for the automotive industry (headlights and tail lamps) they will learn about the contexts and demands of related disciplines such as optics and electronics. They will acquire knowledge of principles and professional terminology from the perspective of the automotive industry.
