To master fundamental principles of transport and handling equipment in common use. To become acquainted with the basic of their design and technology calculations. To become also acquainted with transported materials, their classification, properties and storage.

Summary

Introduction into theory and practical applications of commonly used transport equipments. Classification and properties of transported materials. Fundamental calculations of capacity, output, forces etc. of conveying machines, their description, principles of work and practical applications.

Way of continuous check of knowledge in the course of semester

Lectures, exercises and oral exam are in Czech. Individual consultations and an oral exam can also be in English. The condition for granting the credit is to gain at least 18 points in the overall evaluation of the exercises. The point composition is as follows: test 2 x 10 points = 20 points Search 5 points Traffic problem simulation 10 points TOTAL FOR EXERCISES MAX. 35 POINTS The exam is oral and consists of defending the search and answering 3 questions. The defense of the search is evaluated 0 to 5 points, each question 0 to 20 points. TOTAL PER TEST MAX. 65 POINTS

Subject syllabus:

1. Classification of transported materials. Mechanical properties of particulate materials. Classification pf transport. Calculation of carrying capacity. 2. Equation of motion. Methods of transfer of tensile forces. 3. Analyses of tension forces in endless tensile element - graphical - numerical method. 4. Tensile elements - ropes, chains and conveyor belts. Construction. 5. Belt conveyor, principle, division and main parts. Technological equipment of belt conveyor. 6. Theory and basic calculation of belt conveyor. Standard ČSN ISO 5048. 7. Bucket conveyor - construction, main parts, calculation. 8. Apron conveyor - construction, basics of chain conveyor calculation. Scraper conveyor - construction, basics of chain conveyor calculation. 9. En-Masse conveyor - construction, basics of chain conveyor calculation. 10. Vibratory conveyor - scheme, possibilities of excitation of vibrations, calculation of basic parameters of vibrating conveyor. 11. Screw conveyor - construction, division, simplified calculation of screw conveyor parameters. 12. Transport by gravity - chutes, troughs and gravity roller conveyors. 13. Driven roller conveyors - construction, methods of drive, basic calculation - resistance to movement . 14. Lifts - division, construction and main parts, calculation of safety coefficient of ropes and checking of frictional abilities.
