Subject aims expressed by acquired skills and competences
The aim is to characterize the elementary components of the air traffic management system (air traffic services, air traffic flow management and airspace management) and to deal with the cooperation between them, the technologies and procedures used.

The student will acquire competencies in the field of methodology, legislation, technology and procedures in air traffic control.

Subject syllabus:
1. Air traffic control, relation to Ministry of transport, ÚCL. Distribution of air traffic services (ATC, AIM, ALRS)
2. ANS legislation, national and international regulations, organizations (ICAO, ECAC, EUROCONTROL, EASA)
3. Division of airspace and airports, airspace classes, TRA, TSA, CTA, routes vs. FRA (Free Route Airspace)
4. Aviation information service AIM, publications, cartography, reprographic and distribution departments, NOTAM, AUP, AISview
5. ATC - division of habitats (TWR, APP, ACC, TC, FIC, SAR, reporting offices), specifics of individual habitats, partial workplaces of individual services (TEC, TPC, GND, DEL, SC)
6. Communication and coordination process within ATC, verbal, non-verbal electronic (AFTN, SITA, OLDI messages)
7. Principles of air traffic control, spacing, division, examples
8. Instrument approach procedures from the ATC point of view, LVO from the ATC point of view
9. ATM planning procedures: ASM (airspace management), ATFCM (flow and capacity management), NMOC (CFMU), new SESAR procedures - user driven prioritization process, rolling airspace management
10. Radar systems - PSR, SSR, AMSGSC, MLAT, E2000 display system, ARTAS tracker, data conversion and distribution system (RMCDE)
11. Management information systems - ESUP flight plan processing systems, combined information system IDP, WALDO, radar by-pass, electronic strip system EFS, data communication systems with AGDL, ACARS, CPDLC aircraft
12. Integrated control systems - TopSky
13. FANS - future systems: ADS-B, ADS-C, Aireon space based ADS-B, SESAR, FRA, RCP240, RSP180
14. Repetition and discussion on individual topics, selection procedure for ANS, FEAST tests
