Subject aims expressed by acquired skills and competences

The subject´s goal is to achieve the necessary competencies to focus on the issues of fundamental principles of aircraft flying in the areas of subsonic and supersonic speeds. Knowledge of this subject is a civil aviation regulations requirement by acquiring of some aviation qualifications.

Summary

Aerodynamics deals with the flow of fluids around the body submerged in the fluid and the forces that the flow on bodies raises. This subject deals with the aerodynamics at subsonic speeds of the airflow around the aircraft and aircraft stability.

Subject syllabus:

1 AERODYNAMICS OF SUBSONIC SPEEDS 1.1. Physical principles, laws and definitions 1.2. Two-dimensional flow past airfoils 1.3. Aerodynamic coefficient 1.4. Three-dimensional flow around an airplane 1.5. The total resistance of the airplane 1.6. Ground Effect 1.7. The relationship between lift coefficient and speed constant buoyancy 1.8. Flow separation on the wing 1.9. Increasing the maximum lift coefficient 1.10. Means to reduce the proportion of CL-CD, and to increase resistance 1.11. Boundary layer (link) 1.12. Special cases - special circumstances 2 AERODYNAMICS OF TRANSSONIC SPEEDS 2.1. The definition of Mach number 2.2. Shock waves 2.3. Ways to avoid the effects of exceeding the critical Mach number
