Subject aims expressed by acquired skills and competences

The subject´s goal is to achieve the necessary competencies to focus on basic avionics principles and avionics instrumentation equipment. Knowledge of this subject is a civil aviation regulations requirement by acquiring of some aviation qualifications.

Summary

The course is based on module 022 - aircraft instruments. Complements the course Basics of Electrical Engineering in Aviation I. The content is focused on the principles of basic aircraft instruments and the use of aircraft electronic instrument systems. The student will acquire competencies in the field of aircraft instruments, basics of navigation and satellite technology to the extent that allows him to pass PPL exams at the Civil Aviation Authority in Prague.

Way of continuous check of knowledge in the course of semester

• Krátké vstupní testy před začátkem každého laboratorního měření s cílem prověření připravenosti studentů na měření • Protokoly z měření každé úlohy zpracované na základě naměřených hodnot z těchto měření a jejich následného zpracování, zkompletování a vyhodnocení. • Průběžné ověřování znalostí studentů na početních cvičeních formou diskuse a dotazů s cílem aktivního zapojení studentů do výuky. Identifikovat, dedukovat a hledat řešení problémů a jejich interpretace studenty. • Kontrolní testy na řešení početních příkladů, popřípadě vybraných teoretických okruhů • Semestrální práce a projekty na zadané téma na základě výběru, přezkoumání, seřazení a konečné kompilace faktů a jejich zapracování do konečné formy zadané práce.

1. Introduction to Aircraft Instruments 2. Historical evolution aircraft equipment. 3. Requirements of aircraft equipment. 4. Elektronics aircraft systems. 5. Pitotstatics: altimeter, airspeed,variometer. 6. Instruments Displays, Panel (IDP), Electronic Display (CRT). 7. Air Data Instruments (ADI). 8. Direct Reading Compasses (DRC). 9. Giroscopic Flight Instruments (GIs). 10. The Engine Instruments, Indication and Crew Alerting System (EICAS / ECAM).
