Subject aims expressed by acquired skills and competences
The subject´s goal is to achieve the necessary competencies to focus on basic avionics principles and avionics instrumentation equipment. Knowledge of this subject is a civil aviation regulations requirement by acquiring of some aviation qualifications.

Summary
The course is based on the module 022 - aircraft instruments. The content is focused on the description of the principles and functions of modern transport aircraft complex avionic systems.
The student will acquire competencies in the field of complex instrument systems of transport aircraft, which have an impact on increasing the level of aircraft control safety. The level of knowledge will enable the student to pass the ATPL exams at the Prague Civil Aviation Authority.

Way of continuous check of knowledge in the course of semester
Continuous verification of students' knowledge in numerical exercises in the form of discussion and questions with the aim of active involvement of students in teaching. Students identify, look for a solution of given problems and their interpretation by students.
Control tests for solving numerical examples, or selected theoretical parts.
Students' knowledge is verified at the end of the semester by a written test and an oral exam.

Subject syllabus:
1. Complex digital pitot-static systems (ADC).
2. Attitude & Heading Reference Systems (AHRS), Inertial Navigation Systems (INS), Inertial Reference Systems (IRS).
3. Combined scheme of inertial systems and pitot-static systems (ADIRU).
4. Auto-flight systems - system description, control function, guiding function, protections.
5. Automatic systems of airplane control - Autopilot, Flight Director, stability control (Yaw damper).
6. Automatic systems of airplane guidance – FMS.
7. Systems of complex data displaying - EFIS, ECAM, FMA, MCDU, HUD.
8. Advanced level automatic flight control systems – auto-land, backup systems - BUSS.
9. Flight control systems FBW (Fly-By-Wire) and FBL (Fly-By-Light).
10. Flight control - levels of automation (control laws), fail passive/operational.
11. Automatic thrust control systems – auto-throttle / auto-thrust, FADEC.
12. Automatic rescue systems – anti-collision system TCAS, ground proximity warning system GPWS.
13. Future systems for navigation, communication and radar surveillance FANS (ACARS, CPDLC, ADS-B/C, SAT-ADS).
14. Previous topics review and discussion.
