Subject aims expressed by acquired skills and competences

Student is able to solve problems from transport practice (for example proposal of light controlled crossroad control plan) by simulation approach, students work with simulation software Witness.

Summary

The main aim of the subject is to extend knowledge from discrete simulation, the main part of the subject is devoted to selected transport problems solving by using simulation software Witness (for example signalized crossroad simulation).

Subject syllabus:

1. + 2. Simulation of a signalized crossroad using software Witness. 3. Proposal of signalized crossroad control plan using Witness Optimizer. 4. Simulation of a closed queueing system using software Witness. 5. An application of the closed queueing system on solving a real problem from transport practice. 6. + 7. Interstation section simulation and its capacity assesments using software Witness. 8) Using Witness for capacity assessment of a single-track tram line 9. Reserve.
