Subject aims expressed by acquired skills and competences

The students will gain the knowledges from optimization methods used in the transport. They will be able to propose the mathematical models of the basic transport problems and actively to solve the defined problems with using the optimization software Xpress-IVE.

Subject syllabus:

The key problems lectured according the education weeks: 1. Xpress-IVE - introduction to the optimizing software. 2. Supported problems for solving optimizing problems in transport nets. 3. Service of nodes in transport nets. 4. Mathematical models for locating of objects in transport nets. 5. Mathematical modelling of distribution problems. 6. Proposal of the design transport network with using the mathematical model. 7. Time coordination of the connections in the transit terminals with using the mathematical model. 8. Signal scheduling for traffic lights with using mathematical model. 9. Capacity of transport network and its solving with using the methods of the graph theory. 10. Open queuing systems - models with the single-phase service occuring in transport companies. 11. Open queuing systems - models with the two-phase service occuring in transport companies. 12. Closed queuing systems - models occuring in transport companies. 13. Reserve.
