Summary
A doctoral student acquires skills in the area of advanced materials in the design of vehicles, as well as the application of advanced computational methods to simulate the function and design of automotive components and groups in accordance with the latest principles of reliability and functional safety. Furthermore, he will extend his knowledge of the theoretical foundations of rolling stock. Especially vehicle travel and adhesion properties, dynamic events associated with suspension, power transmission systems and regulation, requirements for innovations of vehicles will be introduced.

Subject syllabus:
1. Management of requirements for vehicles
2. Calculation and utilization of composite materials in the construction of motorcycles, cars and rolling stock, metallic and non-metallic components for vehicles, calculations, boundary conditions
3. Drive simulation, modeling of elements in the drive chain, software tools and their applications (GT Suite, Ricardo)
4. Systematics of vehicle subsystems and components
5. Systematics of vehicle crossection
6. Passive safety, impact resistance, deformation, controlled deformation, energy balance, high strength materials
7. New solutions for cars
8. New motorcycle solutions
9. Advanced assistive systems
10. Track characteristics of rolling stock, safety against derailment
11. Adhesion of rolling stock, slippage and slip protection
12. Vertical and transverse and longitudinal suspension of rolling stock
13. Electric power transmission, co-operation internal combustion engine and traction generator, regulation
14. Hydrodynamic transmission of power, gearbox, regulation
15. New solutions for rolling stock, passenger and freight wagons
