Subject aims expressed by acquired skills and competences

The aim of the course is to pass on to the listener basic knowledge in the field of quality management, concept of quality systems, sectoral standards and apply these to examples of typical tasks solved in transport practice. The theoretical part of the course will ensure an understanding of key processes in quality systems, European Union approaches to quality assurance, conformity assessment, economic aspects of quality management and auditing in quality management systems. The practical part will provide the knowledge necessary for solving quality management tasks in the automotive industry and measuring the quality of services in public passenger transport.

Summary

The practical part will provide the knowledge necessary for solving quality management tasks in the automotive industry and measuring the quality of services in public passenger transport.

Subject syllabus:

1. Quality management, the concept of quality systems, industry standards. 2. TQM and their application in transportation. 3. Key processes in quality systems. Quality assurance. 4. The role of managers in quality systems. Quality and the human factor. 5. Economic aspects of quality management. Planning, regulation and quality improvement in transport. 6. Quality management in transport. 7. Basic tools and methods for data analysis and quality control. 8. Principles of the European Union's approach to quality assurance and conformity assessment. 9. Auditing in quality management systems.

Mandatory attendence participation: The knowledge of students is continuously verified during each lesson in the form of discussion and questions with the aim of actively involving students in the lecture. Students elaborate a semestral paper according to an individual assignment and present its results. Students' knowledge is verified at the end of the semester by a written test and an oral exam.
