Subject aims expressed by acquired skills and competences
The aim of this course is to acquaint students with the design and maintenance of propellers, to teach students the theoretical foundations necessary for practice in the environment of aircraft maintenance and to understand and apply individual parts of the curriculum in accordance with prescribed European standards. We will also acquaint students with the construction of propellers occurring in both large transport aircraft and small aircraft.

Summary
The aim of this course is to acquaint students with the design and maintenance of propellers, to teach students the theoretical foundations necessary for practice in the environment of aircraft maintenance and to understand and apply individual parts of the curriculum in accordance with prescribed European standards. We will also acquaint students with the construction of propellers occurring in both large transport aircraft and small aircraft.
This course is aimed at acquiring theoretical knowledge in the field of module M17 - Propellers and preparation is for the implementation of basic tests, in order to obtain a certificate of competency AML Part 66 according to Commission Regulation (EC) 2042/2003.

Way of continuous check of knowledge in the course of semester
Continuous verification of students' knowledge in numerical exercises in the form of discussion and questions with the aim of active involvement of students in teaching. Identify, seek solutions to problems and their interpretation by students
Control tests for solving numerical examples, or selected theoretical areas.
Smaller individual projects on a given topic supplementing the discussed topic, its review, sorting and final compilation of facts and their incorporation into the final form. Presentation of the results of these works to other students.

Subject syllabus:
1. Basic concepts, propeller blade theory.
2. Propeller angle adjustment.
3. Rotation speed.
4. Propeller slip.
5. Torque.
6. Propeller design.
7. Methods of construction and materials used on propellers.
8. Propeller head, blade front, propeller root and blade hub assembly.
9. Propellers with fixed blades, propellers with adjustable blades (on the ground, in flight), propellers of constant speed.
10. Assembly of propeller and propeller head cover.
11. Control of the propeller setting angle.
12. Propeller synchronization.
13. Protection against icing on propellers.
14. Maintenance, storage and conservation of the propeller.
