Subject aims expressed by acquired skills and competences

During the completion of the course, students will deepen their knowledge of the requirements for safety and construction of lifting equipment. Overall completion of previous knowledge of the whole and individual mechanisms of lifting equipment with the aim of deepening knowledge, broadening the horizon and enriching teaching. Students will acquire basic skills: technical thinking, creativity, communication and organizational skills. Students will master the applicable and transferable requirements needed for quality design work: active approach, creative thinking, effective communication, cooperation, creativity and collaboration, flexibility, performance, independence, problem-solving ability, planning and organizing work, leadership and teamwork, workload management, discovery and orientation in information, lifelong learning).

Summary

In the subject entitled "Lifting equipment", the teaching is focused on elevators, which are reserved equipment according to Decree No. 19/1979 Sb., as amended. Elevators are means of transport from the category of hoists, they are used as lifting devices for the transport of persons or goods in a vertical or oblique direction along a fixed track. Elevator cabins are pulled or pushed by mechanical means, most often by ropes, chains or hydraulically. The course "Lifting equipment" is to acquaint students with the basic principles of elevator design and safety regulations for their operation. The partial objectives of the course are to get acquainted with the development of vertical transport, division of elevators according to the type of drive, theory of traction drive, pressure and friction conditions in the rope pulley groove, structural elements: cage, guides, catchers, etc., safety elements. Examples of the use of elevators on unique buildings in the world. The course acquaints students with the development of passenger and freight transport, especially in the vertical direction. Students get acquainted with the individual structural elements of cable and hydraulic elevators. Students must master the theory of fiber friction between the rope and the rope pulley. The acquired knowledge will enable students to solve design problems in the field of transport of people and materials in the vertical direction. They are acquainted with the regulations for a given mode of transport, so after completing the course they can solve tasks for practice both in the form of a diploma thesis and later after starting practice.

Way of continuous check of knowledge in the course of semester

1. During the semester, the student takes 2 tests at seminars (each with a maximum of 10 points, a minimum of 5 points), 2. The student prepares a year seminar work from the literature of an individually assigned topic in the field of lifting equipment. 3. The student submits to the instructor in the credit week the seminar work prepared from the literature of an individually assigned topic in the field of lifting equipment and hands over its elaboration to the instructor in electronic form in Word. 4. The seminar work, its content, scope and level will be defended by the student during the exam.
