Subject aims expressed by acquired skills and competences

The course presents basic information and concepts in the field of databases and data processing and then focuses on the basic characteristics of database systems, including examples of these systems. The aim of the course is for students to master the methodology of basic design of a simple system for collecting and monitoring vehicle operating data, including the methodology of data structure design of information systems.

Summary

During the course, students will learn the basics of designing data collection systems based on relational databases. They will learn to use database tools in other applications and environments. They will learn the most accessible relational database environment, Access, and its use for designing data collection and presentation systems. The course concludes with an independent solution to a semester assignment.

Datové modelování a projektování datových struktur. Normalizace relací. Architektura databází. Datové modely v databázových systémech. Základní pojmy relační algebry. Dotazovací jazyky v databázových systémech. Tvorba tabulek v návrhovém zobrazení MS Accessu. SQL - Data Definition Language. Výběrové dotazy v návrhovém zobrazení MS Accessu. Vestavěné funkce SQL a pohledy. Formuláře a sestavy. Základy programovacího jazyka Visual Basic for Application. Microsoft ActiveX Data Objects - práce s daty pomocí VBA. Programovatelné objekty SQL - uživatelské funkce, uložené procedury a triggery. Tvorba databázové aplikace v MS Accessu. Seminární projekt
