Subject aims expressed by acquired skills and competences

The students will inform about division welding technologies, thermo cycles in welded joints, deformation cycles in welded joints, weldability of materials, post-weld head treatment of welded joints, non- destructive and destructive testing of welded joints. Ability - to clarify a thermo and deformation cycles in welded joints - to evaluate a weldability of materials - to design non-destructive and destructive testing of welded joints.

Summary

Basic subject for bachelor study "Mechanical engineering" with concentration on welding. The students will inform about division welding technologies, thermal cycles in welded joints, deformation cycles in welded joints, weldability of materials, post-weld head treatment of welded joints, non- destructive and destructive testing of welded joints.

List of lectures: 1. Fusion and solid-state welding. Welding methods overview. 2. Welded joint formation. 3. Weld thermal cycles, HAZ. 4. Residual stress and distortion. Deformation cycle of welding. 5. Post weld heat treatment. Stress Relieving. 6. Annealing. Normalising. Tempering. Ageing or Precipitation hardening, Post heat. Local heat treatment of welded joints. 7. Overview of welding joints defects and their designations. 8. Destructive testing of welded joints 9. Non-destructive testing welded joints-overview. 10. Weld cracking. 11. Weldability of steel-testing. 12. Weldability carbon steel and micro alloy steel. Weldability steel for low temperature. 13. Weldability low alloy steel, weldability stainless steel (ferritic, martensitic). 14. Weldability stainless austenitic and duplex. Other steel.
