Constructional and corrosion resisting steel, steels with special physical properties, tool steel, tech nology of processing steel, cast irons, nonferous metals and their alloys, plasics used in machine, characteristics of plastics, composite and ceramics materials and their characteristics, glassy materials and their characteristics.

Lectures:
1. Introduction to thermodynamics of materials, phase transformations, basic binary diagrams.
2. Technical iron and its alloys, iron - carbon system.
3. Production of iron and steel, influence of elements on properties of the iron alloys.
4. Cast irons.
5. Heat treatments of steels and its influence on the resulting mechanical properties, TTT and CCT diagrams.
6. Destructive testing of metals.
7. Steel grades, steel designation systems.
8. Conventional structural steels and low alloyed steels.
9. Stainless steels - high-alloyed chrome steels and chromium-nickel austenitic steels.
10. Structural steels for special applications and tool steels.
11. Non-ferrous metals with low, medium and high melting temperatures, light and nobel metals.
12. Non-ferrous metals and its alloys.
13. Properties of plastics and its use in mechanical engineering industry.
14. Composite and ceramic materials.
