Subject syllabus:

EN: 1. Experimental Methods: Grid pattern method, visioplasticity method. Moire method, photoplasticity, holography. 2. Flow Stress of Materials and Process Dynamics: Stress-strain curves and related mechanical properties and related phenomena; Environment Dynamics and Transport Phenomena. 3. Numerical Methods in Forming: Classical slab or equilibrium methods; Variation methods; Upper bound method; Slip-line method; System approach- process modelling. 4. Finite Element Method: FEM applications on plastic strain problems; Geometrical behaviour of plastic strain. Sliding and rolling friction and contact behaviours; FEM modelling and simulation; Modelling of unstable processes. 5. Bulk Forming Simulations: Forging process design; Modelling techniques; Acquisition of data; Bar and tube drawing; Forward and backward extrusion; Open and closed-die forging. 6. Sheet Metal Simulations: CAD/CAM applications in sheet forming; Process modelling; Statistical analysis; Bending of sheet metal and plate. Punching and shearing of sheetmetal; Deep drawing. 7. Verification Methodology of Numerical Models: Verification and comparison testing; Axisymmetric ring compression test; Residual stress and springback; Research and comparison of material flow; Research of microstructure development.
