Summary

Obsahem předmětu je poskytnout posluchačům bakalářského studia základní poznatky o struktuře a vlastnostech povrchů materiálů. Důraz je kladen na specifika procesů probíhajících na většině povrchů, rozhraní a v tenkých vrstvách. Vedle klasických technologií, pozornost je také věnována moderním technologiím povrchových úprav materiálu. Aplikace důležitých technologií jsou demonstrovány na praktických příkladech. Dále jsou charakterizovány základní metody hodnocení struktury a vlastností povrchových vrstev.

Way of continuous check of knowledge in the course of semester

Students must successfully complete the following to qualify for credit: 2x Project and credit test. On the basis of successful completion of the credit, students may take an exam, which will consist of a written or oral part.

Subject syllabus:

1. The importance of surface for usability, aesthetics and design. Structure of metal surfaces; geometric, optical, chemical, mechanical and other surface properties. 2. Corrosion. 3. Corrosion protection. 4. Mechanical methods of pretreatment of material surfaces. 5. Chemical methods of pretreatment of material surfaces. 6. Metal melt coatings (hot-dip galvanizing). 7. Thermal spraying. Technology of preparation, properties of coatings. 8. Laser and plasma surface treatment: transformation hardening, surface alloying, pulse treatment. 9. Electroplating, galvanoplastics. 10.Conversion layers, phosphating, chromating, oxide layers, anodizing. 11. Enamels and glazes. Ceramic coatings. 12. Organic coatings - composition of coatings. Protective properties of coatings. Temporary protection. Impregnation of wood. 13. Methods of studying surfaces and coatings - chemical composition, texture, roughness, adhesion, tribological properties, coating thickness, porosity, microhardness.
