Subject aims expressed by acquired skills and competences

The course focuses on the scientific principles of engineering metrology in the technical and legislative areas. Graduate will be able to independently develop and apply measuring methods, including their evaluation in their scientific work.

Teaching methods

Individual consultations

Summary

The course deals with the importance of metrology in terms of ensuring consistency, accuracy and precision, state, legal and applied metrology. Determination of measurement uncertainties, measuring methods and measuring instruments, variations in size, shape, position, surface roughness. Dimensional circuits and principles of mutual interchangeability. The relationship of engineering metrology and quality - meaning, evaluation methods, characteristics, management systems, tools, security, economy and quality of statistical methods for quality control.

Additional study materials

Way of continuous check of knowledge in the course of semester

Student will make research work and at examination will discussion about that and one more theoretical question.

E-learning

Other requirements

After the initial consultation, the student will prepare a separate work on the given topic in order to focus his dissertation, which he will go on to consult on a regular basis. At the end, the exam will be held before the commission.

Subject syllabus:

1. Metrology - meaning, definition, classification. State policy in the quality of metrological security of the state - law, regulations, standards of public administration, accreditation and certification system ensuring consistency, accuracy and precision of measurement and measuring instruments. Clarification of basic concepts and metrological characteristics of measuring instruments. 2. Methodology for determining the uncertainties in measurements and estimation of the actual size of the desired probability. Systematic and random partial and the resulting errors for the correlated and uncorrelated input parameters and the linear functional dependencies. Basic concepts of probability theory and mathematical statistics - probability, types of random variables, distribution functions and probability density, the statistical characteristics of random variables. Estimate of the true parameter value with the desired probability. Methodology for determining the dependence and independence of random variables based on correlation coefficient. 3. Deviations of the actual surface - deviations, variations of geometric shape, relative position, surface roughness - definitions, standards, parameters, measurement methods, special measuring instruments. Statistical dimensional circuits - the determination and calculation of the final member of the linear functional dependence and a simple method of calculation and statistical methods, applications in metrology, the issue of mutual interchangeability and construction. Dimensional theory of circuits with a focus on math model evaluation of systematic and random variables, application of to calculate the probability dimensional circuits. 4. Statistical methods for quality control - principles, importance, statistical control and statistical acceptance. Evaluation of production technology in terms of accuracy required by statistical methods. Using computer technology in the processing of measurement results, the parameters in the analysis of random processes, automation and statistical methods of quality control products.
