Introduction to control engineering (concept of systems, open loop systems, closed loop systems, control system design), Boolean algebra, logic control, sequential circuits, system modeling, time domain analysis (Laplace transform, transfer function, impulse and step response analysis), closed-loop control systems (block diagram, SISO and MIMO systems, transfer function for system elements, controller for closed-loop system, PID controllers), stability of dynamic systems (Hurwitz and Nyquist criterion, design in the frequency domain (complex frequency approach, Bode diagram, compensator design in the frequency

Way of continuous check of knowledge in the course of semester

Studets prepare two project during semestr, first is connected to logic functions; second verifies chosen properties of continuous control systems. Knowledge gained in lectures and exercises is checked by a point-based test.

Subject syllabus:

The course is divided into following areas: 1. Theory and practice of combinatorial and sequential circuits 2. Implementation of logic circuits, PLC 3. Laplace transform, solution of differential equations 4. Description of static and dynamic properties of systems 5. Stability control systems, stability criteria 6. Assessment of the quality control 7. Synthesis of controllers (the method based on experiment and the analytic solution) 8. Controllers - electronic, hydraulic, pneumatic and mechanical 9. Actuators - electric motors, hydraulic and pneumatic 10. Sensors for temperature, position, pressure, force and flow
