Subject aims expressed by acquired skills and competences

The aim of the course Measurement and sensors is to teach students orientation in the environment of sensor and control systems, design and solve partial tasks associated with the design and assessment of measuring and control chain, design and implement experimental practical tasks in team cooperation. After completing the course, the student should be able to formulate the principles of operation of typical sensor and diagnostic systems, analyze their structure, explain the nature of the function of individual components, transducers and control subsystems, evaluate their current development and predict further development of measurement and control technologies.

Summary

The course provides an overview of the current status of sensors and measurement. Static and dynamic properties ofmembers of the of measuring circuits , measurement errors . The structure and physical principles of sensors, the interference, filtering and signal processing. Measurement of the mechanical force of static and dynamic variables (position, displacement, size, speed, velocity, acceleration, force, vibration). Measurement of quantities of heat, pressure, flow liquid and gas dosing media in pneumatic and hydraulic systems. Methodology of measuring chain and measuring system. A new principles and materials in sensor technology (laser and ultrasonic measurement systems). Smart sensors and measuring systems with computers.
