Subject aims expressed by acquired skills and competences
Students learn the principles of information systems, solving bulk data processing, records, etc. Students will gain an overview of available database systems from the desktop SQL Server, including analytical tools and master the methods and procedures of small and medium-scale database tasks with an emphasis on database modeling , UML, teamwork, and output to the Internet.

Summary
Subject Information Systems determines the profile of the graduates in the branch of Automatic Control and Engineering Informatics. Its objective is to introduce students to the principles of creating data structures and the data processing, data recording and system problem solving. Student will deal with methods and procedures for database systems of small and middle range with emphasis on the team work. A part of the subject is also implementations for database throught Internet.

Subject syllabus:
1. Principles of information systems design based on UML. Basic concepts, software support. Life cycle of information systems design.
2. Requirements analysis in system and information engineering - creating functional and non-functional requirements, syntax, priority, status.
3. Identification of use cases – analysis of actors, use cases, scenarios a input/output constraints, relations.
4. Modeling of project's dynamic phase – sequence/communication diagrams, activity diagrams.
5. The static view of an information system - conceptual, design and implementation stages of the static model, the basic elements of the model class / data model.
6. Implementation phase of information systems design – component diagrams and deployment diagrams.
7. Testing of information system, process verification and validation, software deployment, documentation composition and generating of installation materials.
8. Installing and configuration of SQL Server, databases and files management, database tools, SQL, transaction processing.
9. Creating a database - the data object, data types, keys, indexes, constraints.
10. Data manipulation - the SQL query language, fundamentals queries, joins, grouping, views.
11. Flow control - stored procedures, cursors, triggers.
12. Fundamentals of ASP.NET design – configuration of database connection, Grid View, Data View, data security.
