Students will intimately learn about types of heat transfer - conduction, convection and radiation. These knowledges are essential for right understanding of other special lessons of the study programme “Fire Protection and Industrial Safety”.

Summary

The course continues on the subject "Thermomechanics". The subject insightfully deals with types of heat transfer, steady-state/unsteady-state one/multi dimensional conduction, natural and forced convection, radiative heat transfer. The knowledges can be applied to the calculation of radiant heat load for a building, expert opinions etc.

During the credit the student will develop a program and perform 2 tests. The exam is mostly written.

Subject syllabus:

- Types of thermal energy transfer. - Steady state conduction and heat transfer. - Unsteady state heat conduction. - Heat exchange by convection - convection out change of state, convection during change of state. - Radiation heat transfer- radiation in closed systém, radiation in opened system, view factor. - Radiation from gases, vapours and flames. - Thermal screening. - Heat exchangers.
