Students will get knowledge about properties of fuels, combustion statics, types of combustion facilities and pollutants which are produced by combustion.

Fuel, types, fuel sources and theirs consumption. Solid fuels and theirs properties. Characteristic of liquid and gaseous fuels. Energy value of fuel, high heating value, low heating value. Combustion statics of solid/liquid/gaseous fuels. Air excess coefficient. Imperfect combustion. Ostwald’s triangle. Formation of pollutants. Formation and reduction of NOX, SO2, CO, CO2 and solid particles. Main types of combustion facilities. Combustion efficiency and efficiency of combustion facilities.

Way of continuous check of knowledge in the course of semester
cvičení (40b)
- písemný test přepočty stavů 10b, písemný test spalování 20b, program 10 b, možnost jen jedné opravy písemného testu (počítá se poslední dva testy), min. počet bodů 15b;
- v případě nepřítomnosti u testu nutnost dodání dokladu od doktora, náhradní termín ihned po uzdravení. Přistižení při opisování = nula bodů z písemky;
- odevzdání programu je k vyhlášenému termínu, každý den zpoždění = mínus jeden bod.

For written tests (exercise and test) it is possible to have a calculator and a periodic table of elements, min. 15b of the written part of the exam is a requirement for admission to the oral examination.

Subject syllabus:
It summarises and deepens the knowledge of fuel energy parameters, and combustion balance calculations, and completes them by basics of combustion kinetics. Issues of harmful substance formation by combustion, inclusive CO2 abatement, follow.
