Subject aims expressed by acquired skills and competences
The course deals with the properties and methods of using renewable and alternative energy sources. Students will gain basic information in the field of using solar, water and wind energy, biomass and using low-potential heat using heat pumps. The course also pays attention to alternative energy sources such as fuel cells, hydrogen techs, etc. They can use this information and experience in other practical applications and as a basis for solving complex tasks not only in the field of energy.

1) Energy: types, sources, transformations, assessment. Basic balance.
2) Energy, energy consumption and reserves, waste energy. Energy mix.
3) Use of low-potential heat of natural materials using heat pumps.
4) Solar energy.
5) Photothermal and photovoltaic conversion.
6) Water energy, hydroelectric power plants.
7) Wind energy.
8) Geothermal energy.
9) Alternative energy sources, fuel cells, hydrogen.
10) Biomass as a renewable energy source.
11) Transformation of secondary raw materials and their potential in energy.
12) Use of the SMART and LCA methods.
13) Excursions/laboratories.
