Subject aims expressed by acquired skills and competences
Passing the subject student is able to define basic electrical power terms, explain basic techniques of calculation of exercise, these apply to more complex problems and discuss achieved results from the area of electrical power engineering - production of electricity and its conversion to heat and light.

Summary
The subject deals with problems of electricity production in several types of power plants. It also cover problems of electricity usage in form of heat and light.

Fundamental electricity terms, balance of electricity production and consumption and types of power plants.
Fundamentals of nuclear power. The utilisation of water for energy purposes.
Electrical part of power plants.
Renewable energy, safety and environment, fuel cells.
Energy storage. Batteries. Backup.
Smart grids, intelligent power management.
Electrical machinery and appliances. Power distribution systems.
Design of electrical and electronic equipment, safety. Electromagnetic compatibility.
Fundamental terms of thermal engineering. Basic principles of heat transfer.
Industrial heating - fundamentals. Heating fundamentals.
Fundamental terms of lighting technology.
Light sources, luminaires.
Lighting systems.

Fundamental energy terms (systems, load diagram).
Energy balances of condensing power plants.
Energy balances of nuclear power plants.
