Subject aims expressed by acquired skills and competences

The subject contents some basics of lightning and heat engineering from the point of view of terminology, description of basic relations and commercial applications of these relations in production supply of lightning and heat engineering in consumption area. Attention is devoted to all parameters of particular appliances with the view to their quality features, comfort, which they bring, and to energy savings too. After student will finish this subject, he will be able to define the basic definitions of lightning and heat engineering and mainly apply the knowledge on some specific lightning and heat appliances that occur in the market. He will understand the functional properties of electrotechnical products, which he will offer in the market. He will learn to understand the connections between individual parameters, power outputs and consumption of luminous and heat appliances.

Summary

The aim of this subject is to obtain the basic theoretical and practical knowledge in the areas of electrical light and heat in order to marketing of luminous and heating appliance. Objective of laboratory measurements and calculation practices is to acquaint the students with basic parameters and calculations of luminous and heating appliances with regard to their sale. The subject includes interpretation of principles and origin of light and heat, commentary of basic calculation relations to review and compare particular luminous and heat appliances. This subject describes the possibilities how to reach the savings thanks to advisable choice and running of particular appliances too.

Way of continuous check of knowledge in the course of semester

Oral exam. Attendance at all of laboratory works. Processing of laboratory reports in requested date, form and way of delivery. Processing of dated up projects, tests. In addition: Each of tasks is possible to submit only once. Corrective tests are not possible!

Subject syllabus:

Lectures: The principle of light origin, fundamentals of thermal transmittance. Basic notions (terminology) of lightning and heat engineering. Parameters of luminous appliances. The summary of luminous and heat appliances. Parameters of heat appliances. Operational characteristics and maintaining of luminous and heat appliances. The choice of luminous source type. Safeness running of luminous and heat appliances. Luminary and illuminative systems. Electrical heating. Projection of illuminative systems. Projection of heating systems. Reduction of illuminative and heating systems energy demanding. Economical evaluation of illuminative and heating systems. Exercises: Training of lightning engineering basics. Training of heating engineering basics. Calculations, basic relations and analysis of luminous and heat source parameters. Calculations and measuring of luminous sources parameters. Calculations and measuring of luminaries. Calculation and measuring of heat appliances parameters. Calculation of illuminative systems. Calculation of heating systems on the base of heat losses. Measuring of luminous and heat appliances from the point of view of dangerous contact (touch) with parts under or without voltage. Counting of practical examples which deal with luminary and luminous sources energy demands. Counting of practical examples which deal with heating sources energy demands. Electrical marking of luminous and heat appliances. Using of computer technology in the projection process of illuminative and heating system. Economical calculations of illuminative systems investment return. Laboratories: Non-contact temperature measurement. Measurement of the luminance curve and calculation of related parameters. Projects: Calculation of energy consumption and costs for heating and hot water. Calculation of standard illuminance.
