Summary

Electrical machines protection apparatus based on electro-mechanical, analog nad digital principles as well as their integration to higher operation systems are studied.

Subject syllabus:

Lectures: Introduction to principles of protection devices of electric machines. Necessity of protection of electric machines, drives, insulation systems and its heating resistance. Voltage stress, influence of nonsinusoidal supplying. Definition of energy systems, dividing, sorting - sorting according with voltage. - switching station calculation. Electric machines characteristic. Current and torque overload capacity of types of machines, start up current and limitation.Connection diagrams and its function. Apparatus for electric machines protection-breakers, circuit breakers, voltage and current measurable transformers.Dimensioning of outer circuits. Classification of protections of electric machins according to function, contact with superior system - overcurrent, heat, undervoltage, overvoltage, direct, electronic protection. Simple circuit with protection. Connection of protection in energy systems. Low voltage system - circuit with protections. Protection setting - overcurrent, heat, undervoltage. HV system (6 kV) - simple distribution with protections - practical connection, testing. Protection adjusting - direct, electronic, Buchholz relais and special.MV system - practical connection, testing. Protection selectivity. Analysis of complicated superior system, connection and selectivity. HV system - connection, testing. Frequent connections of protection in energy system.
