Explaining terms, principles and functions of digital protections. After passing the subject the student is able to apply the theory of protections and automatics in electric power distribution into the design of protection systems.

The subject includes theoretical part of protections and automatics in electric power distribution. It follows line protections, transformer protections and anti-breakdown automatics.

Subject syllabus:

Instrument current transformers. Instrument error at transient processes, dimensioning of instrument current transformers for differential protections, high-speed impedance protections and slow protections. Digital distance protections. Differential protections. Transverse and lengthwise differential protections. Earth-fault protections. Anti-breakdown automatics.
