Subject aims expressed by acquired skills and competences

The subject is devoted to industrial applications of resistive, induction, arc and other heating using the conversion of electrical energy into thermal energy, their optimization with respect to energy consumption and elimination of disturbing effects on the power supply network. It also includes the energy issues of electric heating. After completing the course, the student can apply the theory to the design of thermal equipment, electric heating, can assess the disturbing effects of electric thermal equipment on the power supply network and propose ways to reduce them.

Summary

The course covers energy issues in industrial heating and electric heating. Another area is the disturbing effects of electric arc furnaces on power supply networks and ways of eliminating them. It deals with energy consumption and optimisation of the operation of industrial electric heating equipment. After completing the course, the student is able to apply the theory of electrothermal technology to the design of electric heating methods, is able to assess the disturbing effects of electrothermal equipment on power supply networks and to propose possibilities for their elimination.
